<br /> The $10,000 appropriation for the Jefferson Park Avenue/
<br />Lee Street repaving which was offered at.the December 19th
<br />meeting was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck,
<br />Rev. Edwards, Mr. Towe, Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. Noes:

<br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
<br /> Charlottesville, Virginia that the sum of $10,000 is hereby
<br /> appropriated from the unappropriated balance of the Capital
<br /> Projects Fund to expenditure account 26-181-051128 for the
<br /> purpose of repaving a portion of Jefferson Park Avenue near
<br /> the University replacement_hospital. This appropriatiOn is
<br /> conditioned upon receipt of $10,00.0 from the University of
<br /> Virginia, as they agreed to pay this portion of the total
<br /> cost. The City's share of this project, $15,000, has been
<br /> appropriated as part,of the Street Reconstruction account in
<br /> the Capital Projects Fund.

<br />APPROPRIATION: $19,932.25 - DRUG SEIZURE ASSETS (2nd reading)

<br /> The $19,932.25 appropriation of the drug seizure assets
<br />which was offered at the December 19th meeting was approved
<br />by the following vote. Ayes: ~ Mr. Buck, Rev. Edwards, Mr.
<br />Towe, Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. Noes: None. _

<br /> WHEREAS, the Police Department of the City of
<br />Charlottesville has received two checks from the U. S.
<br />Department of Justice, one in the amount of $2,468,25 and one
<br />in the amount of $17,464.00, rePresenting proceeds from the
<br />sale of assets lawfully seiZed by the CitY Police Department
<br />from persons subsequently convicted of ~drug related crimes;
<br />and ~ ~

<br /> WHEREAS, said funds have been deposited with the
<br />Treasurer of the City; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the federal policies authorize the City Police
<br /> Department to receive and spend such ~proceeds provided the
<br /> expenditure is on drug related law enforcement matters; now,
<br /> therefore

<br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
<br /> Charlottesville, Virginia that such funds, totalling
<br /> $19,932.25, be and are hereby appropriated to police

<br /> The $3,000 appropriation of the Hazardous .Materials
<br />Grant which was offered at the December 19th meeting was
<br />approved by the followi.ng vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck, Rev.
<br />Edwards, Mr. Towe, Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. Noes: None.

<br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
<br />Charlottesville, Virginia that the sum of $3,000, received as
<br />a contribution from~the COunty ~of ~Albemarle $1,500) and a
<br />grant from the Virginia Department of Emergency Services
<br />($1,500), is hereby appropriated to expenditure account
<br />11-260-042030 in the Grants Fund to purchase defenSive
<br />equipment for emergency~situations in accordance with the
<br />grant requirements of the Hazardous Materials Emergency
<br />Response Program.
