14 <br /> <br />Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as amended, the <br />applicant give an assurance that it will comply with Title <br />VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the U. S. <br />Department of Transportation requirements thereunder; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is the goal of the applicant that <br />minority business enterprise be utilized to the fullest <br />extent possible in connection with this/these <br />project(s),and that definite procedures shall be <br />established and administered to ensure that minority <br />business shall have the maximum construction contracts, <br />supplies, equipment contracts, or consultant and other <br />services. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFOREt BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA <br /> <br /> 1. That the' City Manager is authorized to execute <br />and file application(s) on behalf of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia with the U. S. Department of Transportation to <br />aid in the financing of planning, capital and/or operating <br />assistance projects pursuant to Section 9 of the Urban <br />Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as amended. <br /> <br /> 2. That the City Manager is authorized to execute <br />and file with such applications an assurance or any <br />other document required by the U. S. Department of <br />Transportation effectuating the purposes of Title VI of <br />the Civil Rights Act of 1964. <br /> <br /> 3. That the Transit Manager is authorized to furnish <br />such additional information as the U. S. Department of <br />Transportation may require in connection with the <br />application for the program of projects. <br /> <br /> 4. That the City Manager is authorized to execute <br />grant agreements on behalf of Charlottesville, Virginia <br />with the U. So Department of Transportation for aid in the <br />financing of the planning, capital and/or operating <br />assistance program of projects. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING TRANSFER OF UMTA PASSENGER BUS TO <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE TRANSIT SERVICE <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell stated that a bus purchased with UMTA <br />funds that previously operated in Buckingham County was <br />being offered to the Charlottesville Transit Service and <br />the resolution would authorize the transfer. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, <br />the resolution authorizing tranfer of an UMTA passenger <br />bus to the Charlottesville Transit Service was unanimously <br />approved by Council. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the 1985 Ford, <br />28-passenger bus being transferred to Charlottesville <br />Transit Service from UMTA Section 18 recipient Central <br />Virginia Community Health Center, will be used in the <br />delivery of public transportation° At such time that the <br />vehicle is no longer utilized for public transportation, <br />it will be sold and a proportionate share of the fair <br />market value will be returned to the Urban Mass <br />Transportation Administration. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS TO CONDUCT <br />TURKEY SHOOT <br /> <br /> The resolution authorizing the Veterans of Foreign <br />Wars to conduct turkey shoots was moved by Mr. Towe, <br />seconded by Mr. Barnes and unanimously approved by <br />Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
