<br /> Mr. Huja stated that the neighborhood association had
<br />been spoken to prior to the public hearing and. the majority
<br />of residents favored the C-1 location.
<br />
<br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Towe, the
<br />resolution approving the C-1 location of the 9th/10th Street
<br />Realignment, not including any design issues, was
<br />unanimously approved by Council,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, a Location Public Hearing was conducted on
<br />April 23, 1987, in the City of Charlottesville by '
<br />representatives of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department
<br />of Transportation after' due and proper notice for the purpose
<br />of considering the proposed location for the 9th and 10th
<br />Street Realignment between Cherry Avenue-and West Main
<br />Street, Project U000-104-108, PE101 in the City of
<br />Charlottesville at which hearing aerial photographs, drawings
<br />and other pertinent information were made available for
<br />public inspection in accordance with State and Federal
<br />requirements~ and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, all persons and parties in attendance were
<br />afforded full opportunity to participate in said public
<br />hearing~ and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, representatives of the City of Charlottesville
<br />were present and participated in said hearing~
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Council had previously requested the
<br />Virginia Department of Transportation to program this
<br />project~ and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Council considered all such matters; now
<br />THERFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of
<br />Charlottesville hereby approves the location along alternate
<br />C-1 for the proposed project as presented at the Public
<br />Hearing.

<br />REORDAIN SECTION 12-3, 12-6, 12-7, 24-2 AND 29-2, AS AMENDED
<br />OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, RELATING
<br />TO GAS, WATER AND SEWER CHARGES," which was offered at the
<br />May 4th meeting, was approved by the following vote. Ayes:
<br />Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe.
<br />Noes: None.

<br />ORDINANCE: GRANTING TELECOMMUNICATIONS FRANCHISE TO US SPRINT

<br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A
<br />TELECOMMUNICATIONS FRANCHISE TO US SPRINT COMMUNICATIONS
<br />COMPANY, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS TO USE THE STREETS AND
<br />OTHER PUBLIC PLACES OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTESVILLE, VIRGINIA
<br />FOR ITS POLES, WIRES, CONDUITS, CABLES AND FIXTURES, FOR A
<br />PERIOD OF FIVE (5) YEARS," which was offered at the May 4th
<br />meeting, was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr.
<br />Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. Noes:

<br /> Mr. Barnes stated that he would abstain from voting on
<br />Sections 31-117.1, 31-119, and 31-120, relating to
<br />definition and use of manufactured homes, due to a potential
<br />conflict of interest, and asked that those sections be voted
<br />on separated.
<br />
