230 <br /> <br />appropriated from the unappropriated balance of the City's <br />General Fund to expenditure account 01-41010 to cover the <br />City's share of additional costs incurred for maintenance of <br />the Health Department building on Rose Hill Drive. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $570,000 - FY 87-88 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK <br />GRANT ENTITLEMENT <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell stated that this appropriation <br />represented funds received by HUD for programs previously <br />approved by Council. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Gleason questioned what was involved in the <br />handicapped access program. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja replied that the funds for handicapped access <br />would include improving accessibility to housing, public <br />buildings, and parks. <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell stated that staff is reviewing bus stop <br />accessibility. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, the <br />$570,000 appropriation of FY 87-88 Community Development <br />Block Grant Entitlement funds was offered and carried over <br />to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $7,650 - PIEDMONT COUNCIL OF THE ARTS (COMMISSION <br />FOR ARTS GRANT) <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell stated that a Commission for the Arts <br />Grant had been awarded the City and it was staff's <br />recommendation that the grant be allocated between the <br />Piedmont Council of the Arts and Virginia Discovery Museum <br />in the same proportion as Council had funded the programs <br />from the General Fund. Mr. O'Connell noted that this <br />appropriation as well as the one for the Virginia Discovery <br />Museum included money from the grant as well as the City's <br />General Fund. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, the <br />$7,650 appropriation for the Piedmont Council of the Arts <br />was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $5,350 - VIRGINIA DISCOVERY MUSEUM (COMMISSION <br />FOR ARTS GRANT) <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, the <br />$5,350 appropriation for the Virginia Discovery Museum was <br />offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: <br /> <br />SHELTER GRANT) <br /> <br />$15,000 - SHELTER FOR HELP IN EMERGENCY (VIRGINIA <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell stated that this appropriation <br />represented funds from the Virginia Shelter Grant. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Towe, the <br />$15,000 appropriation for the Shelter for Help in Emergency <br />was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $15,238.60 - SUMMER NUTRITION PROGRAM <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell stated that this appropriation <br />represented funds from the Department of Agriculture to be <br />used for lunches provided at various sites throughout the <br />City during the summer. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Towe, Mr. Huja <br />replied that approximately 60 - 80 lunches are served at <br /> <br /> <br />
