289 <br /> <br />appropriated. Mr. Hendrix stated that the City,s $10,000 <br />share had previously been appropriated, though that amount <br />was being incorporated into this appropriation. It was <br />noted that it was not an additional appropriation of City <br />funds towards the study. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, the <br />~30,000 appropriation for the Jefferson Park Avenue/Fontaine <br />Avenue Study was offered and carried over to the next <br />meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: <br /> <br />CENTER <br /> <br />AUTHORIZING EASEMENT FOR VEPCO AT FIRE TRAINING <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the easement was necessary in <br />order to provide power to the Fire Training Center on Avon <br />Street Extended. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Dr. Hall, the <br />resolution authorizing an easement for VEPCO at the Fire <br />Training Center was unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br /> BE ITRESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, that the Mayor is hereby authorized to <br />execute on behalf of the City the following document, in form <br />approved by the City Attorney: <br /> <br />Easement deed dated August 24, 1987 from the City <br />to Virginia Power in connection with the Fire <br />Training Center off Avon Street Extended. <br /> <br /> A copy of such document shall be kePt on file with the <br />minutes of the Council meeting at which this resolution was <br />adopted. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: AMENDING MCINTIRE PARK CLOSING HOURS (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck suggested that the word "activities,, be <br />substituted for "extended hours" on the signs at McIntire <br />Park. <br /> <br /> It was agreed that anyone would be permitted to remain <br />in McIntire Park as long as an approved activity was taking <br />place. <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE <br />HOURS OF OPERATION OF MCINTIRE PARK" which was offered at <br />the September 8th meeting, was approved by the following <br />vote. Ayes: Mr. Barnes,-Mr. Buck, Mrs, Gleason, Dr. Hall, <br />Mr. Towe. Noes: None. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: AUTHORIZING SALE OF LAND ON BUCKINGHAM CIRCLE <br />(2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE THE <br /> SALE OF A PARCEL OF LAND IN ALBEMARLE COUNTY, IDENTIFIED ON <br /> TAX MAP 76D AS PARCEL 2B, TO GUS M. HEILMAN AND ELSIE N. <br /> HEILMAN FOR ~6,750.00, AND TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR,S <br /> SIGNATURE ON THE DEED OF CONVEYANCE,, which_was offered at <br /> the September 8th meeting, was approved by the following <br /> vote. Ayes: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall, <br /> Mr. Towe Noes: None. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: AUTHORIZING DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck questioned whether City Council would be <br /> eligible to participate in the Deferred Compensation Plan. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bruce Keith, Director of Personnel, Stated that <br /> Council could amend the ordinance to include City Council <br /> members. <br /> <br />Mr. Buck made a motion to amend the ordinance <br /> <br /> <br />
