36 <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, <br />that expenditure of $5,000.00 from the Historic Preservation account (28-042- <br />038103) in the Capital Fund is hereby approved to pay 50% of the costs of the <br />following projects recommended by the Historic Resources Task Force: <br /> <br /> (a) $2,000 - Local Historic Markers at the Albemarle County <br />Com-thouse, Three Notch'd Road, Vinegar Hill, and the University COmer. <br /> <br /> (b) $3,000 - Historic Exhibits in Union Station, City Hall foyer, and <br />Tonsler Park Community Center. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: "AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND <br />RATIFYING AMENDMENTS TO THE CITY'S DEFERRED <br />COMPENSATION PLAN" (approved in one reading) <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: "AN ORDINANCE TO QUITCLAIM NATURAL <br />GAS LINES LOCATED IN THE PUBLIC RIGHTS-OF-WAY ON CHERRY <br />BARK LANE, BIRCHCREST LANE AND CRICKLEWOOD COURT IN <br />SOUTH FOREST LAKES TO THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION" (2~d reading) <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: SUPPORTING TEA 2I ENHANCEMENT GRANT APPLICATION <br />(AIRPORT) <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano said he would like to reflect that approval of this project should not <br />result in the exclusion of the City's proposals for TEA 21 funds. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards expressed concern that the MPO has already voted its support of the <br />resolution without conditions. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano requested that the Mayor write a letter saying that the City would not <br />like the Airport project to take priority over their projects. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, the resolution <br />supporting the TEA 21 enhancement grant application for the Airport was approved, as <br />was the request that the Mayor write a letter, by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, <br />Ms. Daugherty, Ms. Richards, Mr. Toscano. Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Cox. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (TEA-21) provides <br />certain federal funds for transportation enhancement projects; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport Authority and the County of <br />Albemarle intend to submit an application to the Virginia Department of Transportation <br />seeking TEA-21 funds for a project to construct landscaping, bicycle lanes, and sidewalks <br />in conjunction with other improvements to a portion (0.8 miles) of State Route 649 <br />(Airport Road) in Albemarle County; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Commonwealth Transportation Board, in June 1998 awarded <br />partial funding for this project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charlottesville-Albemarle County Metropolitan Planning <br />Organization (MPO) has endorsed the project by resolution dated December 15, 1998 as <br />being in accordance with its Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the project appears to be meritorious and of benefit to the <br />community served by the MPO in that the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport is an <br />essential intermodal link for the Charlottesville-Albemarle region and plays a critical role <br />in the advancement and promotion of tourism in this region; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia fully supports the application of the Charlottesville-Albemarle <br /> <br /> <br />
