49 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: STATE AID (WEST MAIN STREET TRANSPORTATION <br />CENTER) <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Ms: Daugherty, Ms. Judy Mueller, Director of <br />Public Works, said that the City's share of the cost of the project is $30,000. Ms. Mueller <br />added that the resolution must be approved so that the City can drawn down State funds. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Mr. Caravati, the resolution approving <br />State Aid for the West Main Street Transportation Center was approved by the following <br />vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Ms. Daugherty, Ms. Richards, Mr. Toscano. Noes: <br />None. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of Transportation <br />construction allocation procedures, it is necessary that a request by Council resolution be <br />made inn order that the Department program an urban highway project in the City of <br />Charlottesville; now <br /> <br /> THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia requests the Virginia Department of Transportation to establish <br />an urban system highway project for preliminary engineering, right-of-way acquisition, <br />utility relocation and construction of a Transit Transfer Center on property adjacent to the <br />Amtrak Station on West Main Street in Charlottesville. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Charlottesville <br />hereby agrees to pay its share of the total cost for preliminary engineering, right-of-way <br />and construction of this project in accordance with Section 33.1-44 of the Code of <br />Virginia, and that, if the City of Charlottesville subsequently elects to cancel this project, <br />the City of Charlottesville hereby agrees to reimburse the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation for the total amount of the costs expended by the Department through the <br />date the Department is notified of such cancellation. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: SUPPORTING BUDGET A3,~ENDMENT FOR PLANNING <br />DISTRICT COMMISSIONS <br /> <br /> Ms~ Richards asked that Council approve the resolution supporting increasing <br />State funding for administrative costs for Planning District Commissions from $60,000 to <br />$I00,000 a year, as long as it does not affect local funding. <br /> <br /> Ms. Nancy O'Brien, Executive Director for the Thomas Jefferson Planning <br />District Commission, said that no local match is required for this increase. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards made a motion to approve the resolution and Mr. Cox seconded the <br />motion. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano said that is a local match is not required, he suggested that a clause <br />be added noting that. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards and Mr. Cox accepted Mr. Toscano's amendment and the resolution <br />supporting the budget amendment for Planning District Commissions was approved by <br />the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Ms. Daugherty, Ms. Richards, Mr. <br />Toscano.
