Mr. Caravati said he feets that it is important for the community to <br />haYe a summit to develop anew view of regional transportation planning. Mr. Caravati <br />said he agrees with transit having priority over roads. <br /> <br /> Ms. O'Brien said that the eastern corridor study should provide an opportunity to <br />explore regional transportation planning. <br /> <br /> Ms Daugherty said she thinks a joint work session with the County would be good <br />to discuss various transportation-issues. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards said it is a credible, idea, but feels more information is needed before <br />such a meeting occurs. <br /> <br /> Ms. Daugherty said more information should be given to the Council on MPO <br />actions and discussions, and suggested that minutes of the MPO meetings be scm to <br />Councilors. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano asked if there is a sense on the MPO that the CATS is a regional <br />transportation plan, and ff so, does it work. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards said she thinks that the. closest thingt~o such a plan is the Three- <br />Party Agreement. <br /> <br /> Ms. O'Brien said that a regional transportation plan has been discussed in the past <br />by the MPO, though-it has not been discussed recently. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Toscano, Ms. O~grien said that the CATS <br />does. include some measuremems. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards noted that the TIP includes more than $21 million for alternative <br />transportation projects. <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati asked if there isa correlation between the money spent on <br />alternative tramportation and the growth in the are~. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano said you have to have benchmarks so when things are put into place, <br />you can see if they work. <br /> <br /> Ms. O'Brien said that benchmarking will be important in the eastern connector <br />study. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano asked flit is possible to jump ~ in the priorities list, and Ms. <br />Richards said you can do that if you go through the MPO. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards asked it' the s/gnal coordination on Route 29 North, included in the <br />TIP, was done when Rio Road was otosed.
