Inspection of amusement rides. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Dogwood Festival Board shall be <br />responsible for providing five (5) portajohns at Mclntire Park during the festival, one of <br />which shall be handicapped accessible. <br /> <br />c. APPROPPdATION: <br /> <br />$2,000 - Support for Charlottesville Ten Miler <br />(2na reading) <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charlottesville Ten Miler Race has been held in the City of <br />Charlottesville for 25 years, and brings in substantial revenues to area businesses and <br />merchants; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the net proceeds of the Ten Miler Race are contributed to local <br />community groups and charities; nOw, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Cky of Charlottesville, Virginia, that <br />the City of Charlottesville hereby agrees to sponsor the Charlottesville Ten Miler Race in <br />the spring of 2000, and designates the week preceding the race as the Charlottesville Ten <br />Miler Week; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER I~SOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlotteswille, <br />Virginia, that the sum of $2,000 is hereby appropriated from the unappropriated balance <br />of the General Fund to defray the cost of services provided by off-duty Charlottesville <br />police officers related to the Charlottesville Ten-Miler Race. <br /> <br />d. APPROPRIATION: $1,500 - Traffic Safety Grant (carried over) <br /> <br />e. APPROPRIATION: $6,000 - Learn and Serve Grant (carded over) <br /> <br />ORD/NANCE: "AN ORDINANCE TO QUITCLAIM NATURAL <br />GAS LINES LOCATED IN GRAEMONT LANE IN ALBEMARLE <br />COUNTY TO THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION" <br />(2~u reading) <br /> <br />g. ORDINANCE: "AN ORDYNA2,tCE AMENDYNG AND <br /> · REORDAINING SECTION 9-27 OF ARTICLE II OF THE <br /> CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE, 1990, AS A~MENDED, RELATED TO <br /> A TEMPORARY RELOCATION OF THE POLLING PLACE FOR THE <br /> RECREATION PRECINCT" (2"a reading) <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards said she fninks Council shouM hold a separate public hearing on the <br />proposed college scholarship program as she would like to get feedback from the <br />community. Ms. Richards said she thinks the details of the proposal need to be made <br />clear. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox agreed and said he thinks the program would be enhanced by public <br />comment. Mr. Cox suggested having a presentation at a Council meeting and a public <br />hearing at a separate meeting. Mr. Cox said he could support setting aside funds for the <br />program in the budget if the details are not f'malized in time for the budget. <br /> <br />Ms. Richards agreed with tentatively approving the program in the budget. <br /> <br /> <br />
