69 <br /> <br />adequate horizontal clearance under the proposed replacement Jefferson Park Avenue <br />Bridge (VDOT Project # U000-104-V09, PE101, RW201, C501, B607) to accommodate <br />a potential transportation corridor between the Fontaine Research Park and the University <br />of Virginia complex. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Council respectfulky conditions the <br />foregoing request upon VDOT: <br /> <br /> (1) Providing an oppommity for the City's Urban Design Committee to review <br />the proposed Jefferson Park Avenue Replacement Bridge design early enough in the <br />process so that the Committee can provide meaningful input into the final design; and <br /> <br /> (2) Obtaining approval from City Council for such final design prior to the start <br />of construction of the bridge by VDOT. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano said he heard a rumor that the aerial mapping project was initially <br />going to be a joint project with the City and County, but that the County pulled out and is <br />paying less. <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Cormell replied that the Albemarle County Service Authority was added <br />and will be paying more. <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati said that wlille he will vote in fa~¢or or it, he is uncomfortable selling <br />the property on Emmet Street to the University given ways that other initiatives have <br />turned out. <br /> <br /> The following consent agenda items were approved by the following vote. Ayes: <br />Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Ms. Daugherty, Ms. Richards, Mr. Toscano. Noes: None. <br /> <br />a. Minutes of March 20 <br /> <br />b. a SOLU ON: <br /> <br />Authorizing Permit Parking on Maple Street <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, residents of Maple Street between 7~ Street, N.E. and 8th Street, <br />N.E. have requested that City Council designate that street as a restricted parking block; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with the permit parking regulations, the City Traffic <br />Engineer las conducted on street parking surveys and mailed notice to all residents of the <br />affected area that Council will consider designating such area as a restricted parking <br />block; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the surveys have shown that at least 75% ofthe total number of on <br />street parking spaces in the proposed restricted parking block were occupied, and at least <br />50% oftt~e total rmrel~er of on street parking spaces in that block were occupied by <br />commuter vehicles; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council has considered: <br /> <br />(a) the purpose and intent of the permit parking ordinance and regulations; <br /> <br />(b) the alternate means of transportation, if any, to and from the restricted blocks <br /> being established; <br /> <br />(c) the adverse impact that restricting parking in such blocks ~ have on <br /> nearby neighborhoods that do not have permit parking; and <br /> <br />the adverse impact that such restrictions may have on the non-residents of the <br />proposed restricted parking block and their ability to find available p~king <br />near their place of work; now, therefore <br /> <br /> <br />
