242 <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano asked what ',reconciled" means in reference to land use, and Mr. <br />Tolbert said that in some cases it means rezoning and in otherS it means land use changes. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano, referring to the historic preservation section, said that significant <br />historic character should be preserved, but not all should be protected. <br /> <br />strong. <br /> <br />Mr. Caravati said he thinks to say that the historic character will not change is too <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox said he disagrees and thinks that those things that are historic should <br />remain. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tim Supler, Planning Commissioner, suggested that any suggestions for <br />wording changes be given to Mr. Tolbert after the meeting. <br /> Mr. Ken Schwartz, Planning Commissioner, questioned whether the Planning <br />Commission endorsed parking free districts, and said he is uncomfortable with a blanket <br />endorsement of the parking study. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said he is also uncomfortable with a blanket endorsement of the <br /> corridor study. <br /> <br /> Regarding economic development, Mr. Lynch said he is not sure issues regarding <br /> infill development should be there as there are a lot of things the City has no control over. <br /> Mr. Tolbert said the language was lifted out of the corridor study, but said some <br /> could go in the economic development section as background. <br /> <br /> Ms. Clay Christensen suggested that the Plan reference where issues came frorr~ <br /> Mr. Marshall Slayton, Planning Commissioner, said he thinks the document needs <br /> to be briefer. <br /> <br /> Ms. Clay Christensen asked if there are any goals or objectives that do not state <br /> the issue correctly or that miss the point. <br /> <br /> Mr. Key said affordable and accessible housing for the disabled. <br /> <br />Mr. Slayton said increasing density downtowr~ <br /> <br />Mr. Cox suggested specifying specific neighborhoods in the corridor study. <br /> <br /> Mr. Slayton said he would like to have utilities moved to alleys. <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati asked where the reference to the City/County Athletic Complex <br />came from and questioned whether it should be supported, and Mr. Tolbert said it was <br />recommended by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. <br /> <br /> Mr. Slayton suggested that big picture issues be focused on tonight. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said that most goals and objectives are very physically oriented, not <br />socially oriented. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tolbert said that the intent was not to include many ofthe social issues that <br />were previously part of the Plan because other groups are working on those. <br /> Mr. Lynch said that is fine as long as that is referenced. Mr. Lynch recommended <br /> that goals and objectives are not actually implementations. <br /> Ms. Clay Christensen asked if thereis anything represented in the recommended <br /> improvements dealing with the corridors that is felt to be inappropriate, noting that this is <br /> contained in the implementation section and is specific by corridor. <br /> <br /> <br />
