33 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dogwood Housing Lismited Partnership, under the <br />leadership of Eugene Williams, has for several years been in <br />the forefront of the sensitive renovation of older hoouses in <br />this City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dogwood Housing Limited Partnership has contributed <br />significantly to the retention of the Ridge Street fabric and <br />character as an interesting and historic residential area within <br />the city, thereby enhancing the quality of life there for its <br />citizens and the community as well; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of <br />the City of Charlottesville hereby commends Dogwood Housing <br />Limited Partnership for these renovations, and extends to them <br />its appreciation. <br /> <br /> Signed and sealed this 20th day of May, 1985. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />by creating the Historic Landmarks Commission and the Boards <br />of Architectural Review, has recognized the value of encouraging <br />appropriate restoration and preservation of property in the <br />City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council wishes to encourage further such <br />preservation efforts; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council has decided that such efforts by <br />property owners should be publicly recognized; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council, with the advice of the Historic <br />Landmarks Commission, the Board of Architectural Review <br />concurring, will recgonizze outstanding examples of rehabilitation; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Councnil of <br />the City of Charlottesivlle recognizes the Peyton-Ellington <br />Building, 711 West Main Street, and commends its rehabilitation <br />by Edward W. Hook, Jr., Jessie T.
