34 <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS: BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, Ruth Wadlington was reappointed <br />and Anne Curran was appointed to the Community Attention <br />Advisory Board. Ms. Wadlington's term will expire on March 1, <br />1988 and Ms. Curran's term will expire on February 1, 1988. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, Fran Lawrence was re- <br />appointed as the at-large representative and Peggy King <br />was appointed as the Federation of Neighborhood Associations <br />representative on the Community Development Block Grant Task <br />Force. These terms will expire on March 7, 1987. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, Sanford Wilcox was re- <br />appointed and John A. (Pete) Eberhart was appointed to <br />the Jefferson Area Board for Aging. These terms will <br />expire on April 1, 1987. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, Florence Bryant was appointed <br />to the Personnel Appeals Board. This term will expire on <br />December 31, 1987. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, Kimberly Puleo was appointed <br />to fill an unexpired term and Rev. William Guthrie was <br />appointed to the Social Services Advisory Board. Ms. Puleo's <br />term will expire on June 30, 1987 and Rev. Guthrie's term <br />will expire on August 30, 1988. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: "Si FOR LIFE" FUNDS <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix explained that the $5,126.75 appropriation <br />of $1 for Life funds would be transferred to the Rescue <br />Squad and Emergency Medical Services Council as had been <br />previously approved in the budget.. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Gleason commented 'that the $1 for Life funds <br />can only be used for very specific expenses aRd that she <br />hoped public contributions to these agencies would not <br />diminish as a r~sult of the appropriation. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mrs. Gleason <br />the $5,126.75 appropriation of $1 for Life funds was <br />offered and carried over to the next meeting for considera- <br />tion. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: CHARTER HOUSE <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix explained that this appropriation was a <br />housekeeping matter which would give Charter House $2,188 <br />to meet a need for the current fiscal year and would give <br />Region Ten Community Services Board $2,512 which would <br />then be returned to the City. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, <br />the appropriation for Charter House was offered and carried <br />over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $1,212 - PARTICIPATION IN VIRGINIA MUNICIPAL <br />LEAGUE TELEPHONE RATE CASE <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix explained that the General Assembly had <br />passed legislation making public utilities subject to rates <br />set by the State Corporation Commission and the Virginia <br />Municipal League would be negotiating these rates on behalf <br />of cities and counties in Virginia. Mr. Hendrix explained <br />that the appropriation would cover Charlottesville's portion <br />of the legal expenses and recommended that the appropriation <br />be approved. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck recommended the appropriation as he felt it <br />was a modest expense for the benefit the City would receive. <br /> <br /> <br />
