274 <br /> <br />having approximately 52 feet of frontage on Virginia <br />Avenue, 135 feet of frontage on 17th Street, N.W. and <br />containing approximately 8,602 square feet of land or .20 <br />acres, as a sorority house with not more than 9 residents. <br />Such use shall be carried out in accordance with the site <br />plan as approved by the Director of Planning. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: GRANTING SPECIAL PERMIT TO USE 581 BRANDON AVENUE AS <br />A GROUP RESIDENTIAL FACILITY <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja gave the following reasons for the Planning <br />Commission's recommendation to approve the special permit: <br />1) It is in harmony with the Land Use Plan of the <br />Comprehensive Plan; 2) It will not have a significant <br />adverse impact on the surrounding area, if conditions are <br />met~ and 3) The proposed use is compatible with surrounding <br />uses. This approval is conditioned upon the following: 1) <br />Administrative approval of the site plan, with the <br />following changes/additions: more information on the <br />drainage run-off data and method of handling it; and 2) <br />Assurances that the six "leased" spaces are surplus parking <br />as far as the nursing dorm parking needs are concerned. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the <br />resolution grnating a special permit to use 581 Brandon <br />Avenue as a group residential facility was unanimously <br />approved. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Alumni Association of the University of <br />Virginia has submitted an application for a special permit <br />to use the structure and property at 581 Brandon Avenue as <br />a group residential facility to be known as the German <br />House; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, following a joint public hearing before this <br />Council and the Planning Commission, duly advertised and <br />held on June 10, 1986, this Council finds that such use <br />will conform to the standards set forth in Section 31-28.1 <br />of the City Code and to the criteria applicable to special <br />permits generally under Chapter 31 of the City Code; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville,Virginia that a special permit is granted <br />pursuant to City Code Section 31-28, as amended, to use <br />the structure and property at 581 Brandon Avenue, <br />identified on City Real Property Tax Map 11 as parcel 94, <br />having approximately 83 feet of frontage on Brandon Avenue <br />and containing approximately 10,240 square feet of land or <br />.23 acres, as a group residential facility with not more <br />than 13 residents. Such use shall be carried out in <br />accordance with the site plan as approved by the Director <br />of Planning. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: GRANTING RENEWAL FRANCHISE TO MULTI-CHANNEL TV CABLE <br />COMPANY (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A <br />RENEWAL FRANCHISE TO MULTI-CHANNEL TV CABLE COMPANY TO OWN <br />AND OPERATE AND MAINTAIN A CABLE COMMUNICATIN SYSTEM IN THE <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA" which was offered at the <br />June 2nd meeting, was approved by the following vote. <br />Ayes: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Gunter. <br />Noes: None.
