S. Kennedy was ordered paid one-half pay <br />for time lost on December 26, 272 292 30, and 31, 1939; and Policeman A. E. Roberts <br />was ordered pain one-half pay for the time lost during the month of January, 1940, <br />on account of sickness. <br />On motion by Tar. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Haden, the following report was un - <br />animously adopted, and dedication of the streets named therein accepted: <br />To the Members of the City Council <br />City of Charlottesville, Va. <br />Gentlemen: <br />December 30, 1939 <br />Biue Ridge With reference to the petition of the Redland Land Corporation <br />Road and requesting the City to take over Blue Ridge Road from Rugby Road <br />Hessian Road around to the old Barracks Road and Hessian Road from Blue Ridge <br />Road 4501 west, I wish to advise that these streets are only 30t <br />in width, and while we have tried in all cases to require a <br />width of J+O t bef ore accepting dedication, I find that many of the <br />roads and streets that -,-ie have taken over in the annexed territory <br />are only 301,theref ore it seems that our policy will have to <br />change temporarily to include those streets in the annexed terri- <br />tory, which are fairly well developed, so long as they comply with <br />the highway regulation of 30t in A,idth. <br />I would, therefore, recommend that the petition of the Redland <br />Land Corporation be gr%nted. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Seth Burnley (signed) <br />St3: vL City Manager <br />ldarket St. <br />& Freston Ave. <br />• lot <br />Resolution <br />• re: <br />Constable <br />On motion by Mr. Jessup, seconded by T,1r. Gleason, the following report was <br />unanimously adopted: <br />December 18, 1939 <br />To the Members of the City Council <br />City of Charlottesville, Virginia <br />Gentlemen: <br />'a`uith reference to a petition of Mr. F. L. Noes: Intone. <br />On motion the following resolution was unanimously adopted: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville <br />that the General Assembly of Virginia be requested to amend Sec. 4 <br />and Sec. 26 of the City Charter so as to eliminate fro�1I Sec. 4 <br />tree provision for the office of constable in the City of Charlottes- <br />ville, and to provide in Sec. 26 of the Charter that the City <br />Sergeant shall, in the City of Charlottesville, perform all duties <br />
