1-03 <br />COUNCIL CHAIyIBER FEBRUARY 19 1940 <br />The Council met in regular session on this date with the following members <br />present: Mr. Gleason, Dr. Haden, Mr. Huff, 21r. Jessup, and Mr. Peyton. <br />Minutes of the Meeting of February 5, 1910, were read and approved. <br />Mr. Perry and fir. Dettor of the City School Board addressed the Council and <br />HB X240 requested that a resolution be adopted opposing the enactment by the General <br />opposed <br />Assembly of House Bill j12J+O Use of School Property. <br />On motion by Dr. Haden, the following report was unanimously adopted: <br />February 15, 1940 <br />To the lilembers of the Council of the <br />City of Charlottesville, Virginia <br />Gentlemen: <br />and upon the rules being suspended as to the second reading by unanimous vote, was <br />adopted by the following recorded vote: Ayes: <br />Your Committee wishes to report that they <br />have this date burned the following City of <br />Charlottesville 4latured Bonds: <br />Bonds Burned <br />Ln <br />u17.000. General Improvement Bonds Series <br />cv <br />of 1930, Nos. 124 - 140, both <br />numbers inclusive, matured on <br />QJanuary <br />1, 19140. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />S. A. Dudley was ordered paid one-half pay <br />for time lost froi:i January 24 to February g, 1940, inclusive, all on account of <br />sickness. <br />The City Mancager t s Quarterly Estimate for the quarter ending 11ay 31, 1940, in <br />(uarterly <br />amount of 9".3,750.00, was presented and carried over to the next meeting for considera- <br />Estimate <br />tion. <br />An ordinance entitled "Ail ORDINANCE AI,1ENDING SECTIO14 195 (1) OF THE CODE OF THE <br />Ordinance <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE OF 1932 AS �_1ERETOFORE AIAE14DED AND RE-ENACTED, ENTITLED <br />"Zoning" <br />"ZONINGtt"DISTRICTS", was offered by Mr. Jessup, seconded by Mr. Peyton, and carried <br />over to the next meeting for consideration. <br />On motion by Mr. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Haden, the following resolution was <br />unanimously adopted: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville <br />Approp, <br />Child Welfare <br />that $50.00 or as much thereof as may be necessary be and the same <br />Association <br />is hereby appropriated for advertising Child Welfare Association <br />Campaign.. <br />Dog Fund <br />On motion bills against the Dog Fund in amount of �ti.50 and $2.40 were approved <br />for payment. <br />An ordinance entitled "AiV ORDINANCE A,1ENDING AND REENACTIIIG SUBSECTION (c) OF <br />Ordinance <br />SECTION 489 (74) OF TH-h CITY CODE OF 1932 ENTITLED 'REGISTRATION OF DRIVERS OF <br />re Taxi <br />Drivers <br />VEHICLES OPERI-TED FOR HIRE, ETC.11, was offered by Dr. Haden, seconded by ivir. ('leason, <br />and upon the rules being suspended as to the second reading by unanimous vote, was <br />adopted by the following recorded vote: Ayes: <br />
