<br />IN RE: PROPOSED BOND ISSUE OF
<br />$150,000.00 FOR EXTENDING, EXPANDING AND
<br />IMPROVING THE SEWER, WATER, GAS AND STREET
<br />SYSTEMS OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE.
<br />It appearing to the Court from a duly
<br />certified and attested copy of an abstract of votes cast at the
<br />Special Election held in the City of Charlottesville, Virginia,
<br />on Tuesday, April 25th3 1939, upon the proposed bond issue of
<br />$150,000.00 for purpose of extending, expanding and improving
<br />the severer, water, gas and street systems of said City, that a
<br />majority of the qualified voters of said City who voted upon the
<br />question of the issuance of said bonds cast their affirmative
<br />votes FOR their issuance, and, as provided by the charter of the
<br />City of Charlottesville as amended by an Act of Assembly of
<br />Virginia approved March 14th, 1934, it further appearing that
<br />such majority includes a majority of the votes cast by those
<br />taxpayers of said City voting at said election who pay a tax on
<br />real or personal property assessed at two hundred and fifty
<br />dollars (A250-00), or more, such fact is herein now entered of
<br />record, as provided by Section 3088 of the Code of Virginia.

<br />SERIES OF 1939'", was offered by Dr. Haden, seconded by Mr. Gleason, read and
<br />carried over to the next meeting for consideration.
<br />On motion by Mr. Jessup, seconded by Dr. Haden, the following resolution was
<br />unanimously adopted:
<br />WHEREAS, by an agreement dated November 8th, 1938, which is to be
<br />spread as part of this resolution, the Georgia Industrial Realty Company
<br />(Southern Railway) consented to the closing of Pearl Street, extending from
<br />Resolution Preston Avenue northeastwardly to the right of way of the Southern Railway
<br />re: Pearl
<br />Street Company; and
<br />WHEREAS, the City has acquired the title to all other real estate
<br />adjacent to the aforesaid street; and
<br />WHEREAS, the City has acquired the title to all real estate adjacent
<br />to all other streets, alleys and ways within the Preston Avenue School Site
<br />as shown on plat of the City Engineer, dated April 12, 1939, of record in
<br />his said office:
<br />NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of the City of
<br />Charlottesville, pursuant to Section 13 (1) of the City Charter, 1922 Acts,
<br />Chapter 4112 page 697, that Pearl Street as well as all other streets, alleys,
<br />and ways within the Preston Avenue School Site as shown on plat of the
<br />City Engineer dated April 12, 1939 of record in his said office, be. and the
<br />same hereby are closed.
