Chapter 368, <br />Page 736, provides for the organization of a County Health Department and • <br />Board, and Dives to the Board of County Supervisors certain discretionary <br />powers as regards the choice of a health Officer, the promulgation of <br />sanitary ordinances, and their enforcement and similar duties; and <br />T's S d t' C ' 1 4 Cht A � ( t of th e Assem <br />LVEibl 1922 701}) brod <br />EREA. .9 un er ne Uy r der s c y , p. u <br />powers are granted to the City Commissioners to provide for general health of <br />the inhabitants, to mage regulations to secure same and provide for the appoint- <br />ment and organization of a Board of Health or other Board to have the powers of <br />the Board of Health; and <br />`NHE,REAS , the University has created a Department of Public Health and <br />Hygiene in the Medical School to promote knoviledge of, interest in, and applica- <br />tion of the principles of preventive medicine, <br />NOI , THEREFORE, T TIS AGREEMENT, :Made this the 24th day of April, 1939, <br />between the said Board of Co:mty Supervisors of the County of Albemarle, here- <br />inafter called the County, of the first part; said Commissioners of the City of <br />Charlotesville, hereinafter called the City, of the second part; and the <br />Rectors and Visitors of the University of Virginia, hereinafter called the <br />Univer-sity, of the third part, <br />WITNESSETH: <br />1. Tha.t­in consideration of the premises and the mutual benefits which <br />will accrue to the parties thereto, said County, City, and University agree to <br />fora a Joist Health Department, said Department to operate under the direction <br />of a Joint Health Board as hereinafter provided. <br />2. That the Joint Health Board shall consist of three membe-._s, one <br />representing the County, one representing the City, and one representing the <br />University. <br />V <br />3. That the Board of County Supervisors shall select one member of said <br />Joint Health Board who shall serve for such term as said County Supervisors shall <br />determine. That said member shall act for the County in the prompt and efficient <br />admLnistration of the affairs of the Joint Heal! <br />
