Gentlemen: • At the Council meeting on May 1st petitions were presented and some citizens spoke in behalf of the petitions advocating one day holiday every calendar Report re: month with pay to all regular policemen. Emmett Gleason moved that this matter be referred to the Mayor and Chief of Police N to see if they could work out a plan whereby policemen could be brarlted one day holiday a month without extra Q costs to the City. .d We have gone over this matter thoroughly but cannot figure out any plan that would ,rant policeman one day holiday a month .iithout extra costs to the City. We found that twelve policemen will take their regular ten day vacations bet.,een 'day 1st and September 1st and request that this matter be deferred until September lst, 1939. Gentlemen: • A meeting of the Finance Committee was held on Report of May 8, 1939, relative to the issuance of ','150, O00.00 Finance City of ChL,-rlottesville, Virginia, General Improve - Committee ment Bonds Series of 1939. The Finance Committee unanimously recommends that: 1. Bonds be dated July 1, 1939. 2. Interest be payable semi-annually on the 1st day of January and July. 3. Bidders to be invited to name the rate of interest in multiples of 1/4 of 1% (one interest rate for entire issue). 4. No proposal for less than all of the bonds be considered. 5. No bid for less trian par be considered. 6. Date of sale to be at 12:00 o'clock Noon, Eastern Standard Time, on June 5, 1939. 7. Bonds be delivered on July 1,.1939, or as soon thereafter as is possible. S. The City Auditor be authorized and instructed to advertise the bond sale for one insertion in the Daily Bond Buyer. • 9. The Notice of Bond Sale as prepared by the City Auditor be approved and t1lat 500 conies thereof be printed and forwarded to interested Bond Houses.
