AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SUSENSION OR DISMISSAL OF VITY EMPLOYEES WHO <br /> <br />SHALL FAIL TO PAY THEIR JUST DEBITS WITHIN REASONALE TIME: <br /> <br />(Adopted February, 9th,1905). <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAITED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: <br /> <br />Thatany employe of the City appointed by the Council, upon proper proof of his refused <br /> <br />or failure to pay his just debts, hereafter contracted, within a reasonable time may <br /> <br />discretion of tre Council be, suspended or discharged. <br /> <br />The foregoing ordinance was presented to the Mayor on February 10th,1905 and <br /> <br />was returned to me on February 17th, 1905 without his signature; therefore it <br /> <br />becomes operative as provided by the Consttitution of the State of Virginia. <br /> <br />Clerk of Council Signature. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />AN ORDIANCE PROVIDING THE PUNISHMENT OF PERSONS TURING IN FALSE FIRE ALARMS. <br /> <br />(Adopted March 9th,1905.) <br /> <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: <br /> <br />That no person shall, want only or without knowledge of the existence of a fire, turn <br /> <br />in or give any false alarm to the fire department. <br /> <br />For any violation of this ordinance the offender shall be fired not less than <br /> <br />one dollar ($1.00) nor more than ten dollars ($10.00). <br /> <br />Presented March 14,1905; Approved March 14, 1905. <br /> <br />Mayor Signature. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO FIX THE LICENSE TAX ON HOBBY-HORSE MACHINES IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: <br /> <br />(adopted May 11, 1905). <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT <br /> <br />SECTION 26 __ THE SPECIFIC LICENSE TAX LAWS BE AMENDED AND RE-ENACTED AS <br /> <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />The tax on hobby -horse machines,merry-go-rounds, of other like machines, as provided <br /> <br />for in section 26,Page 94, of General Ordinances, hereafter shall be twenty five dollars <br /> <br />per week of six turnning days, or ten dollars per day if issued for lees period than <br /> <br />Such licensee shall locate his machime on suitable premisee, to be approved by the <br /> <br />Mayor, or Council, and he shall first procure the written consent of the residents, if <br /> <br />living on contiguous property, and take care that he does not obstruct or interfere, <br /> <br />the use of the streets by passers. <br /> <br />He shall while operating his machine preserve the peace and keep good order on the <br /> <br />premises upon which his machine is operated, and to this end shall employ a man approved <br /> <br />by the Mayor,who shall be appointed as special policeman to keep order. <br /> <br />Presented May 17,1905; Approved May 17,1905. <br /> <br />Mayor Signature. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE TESTING OF GAS METERS IN THF CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: <br /> <br />(Adopted May 11, 1905). <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: <br /> <br />THAT any consumer questioning the accuracy of his Gas Meter and desiring to <br /> <br />have tested can have one test ( the first ) made by the superintendent of Gas with a <br /> <br />Meter Prover without cost, and subsequent tests for one dollar ($1.00) each, by deposot <br /> <br />said amount with the City Treasurer,for which receipt will, be given. <br /> <br />If the test and report of the Superintendent shall show that the Meter in question <br /> <br />is fast, said deposit shall be refunded to the consumer, but otherwise, shall be retained <br /> <br />the City as partial compensation for the cost of making the test. <br /> <br />Upon the written report of the Superientendent that the Meter in question is incorrect <br />
