7 <br /> <br />(Cont'd) <br /> <br />the bill of the consumer about which complaint is made, will be corrected by the Committee <br /> <br />on Gas & Light according to the finding and report of the Superintendent. <br /> <br />Presented May 17,1905; Approved May 17, 1905. <br /> <br />Mayor Signature. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE THE POSTING OF HAND-BILLS AND OTHER LIKE ADVERTISEMENTS: <br /> <br />(Adopted May 11,1905) <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: <br /> <br />That it shall be unlawful to affix any hand bill, poster or xxxx advertisements to <br /> <br />any bill-board, post or other place in the City,except by paste or tacks, so as to hold the <br /> <br />same securely and not allow them to become detached or blown about the streets. <br /> <br />Any violation of tris section shall be punished by a fine of not more than five dollars <br /> <br />($5.00) and the party whose name is attached to or printed on the poster shall be held <br /> <br />liable for the fine. <br /> <br />Presented May 17,1905; Approved May,17 1905. <br /> <br />Mayor. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE RENTING OR LEASING OF PROPERTY TO BE USED AS <br /> <br /> AN HOUSE OF ILL FAME OR PROSTITUTION: ( Adopted May 11, 1905) <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: <br /> <br />(Adopted May 11, 1905) <br /> <br />That, any owner or agent of the owner,having control of property rented within the <br /> <br />City limits , knowing; that the same is being used as an house of ill fame, or is being re- <br /> <br />sorted to for the purpose of prostitution, or, after being notified by the Mayor of the <br /> <br />City that such property is being used for such purposes,shall be fined not less than <br /> <br />five dollars nor more than twenty-five dollars for each day he shall permit said property <br /> <br />to be so occupied after such knowledge or notification, provided,that said owner or agent <br /> <br />shall not have taken due process of law to vacate said property. <br /> <br />This ordinance shall be in force from its passage <br /> <br />Presented May 17, 1905; Approved May 17, 1905. <br /> <br />Mayor Signature. <br /> <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE RENTING OR LEASING OF PROPERTY TO BE USED AS AN HOUSE <br /> <br />OF ILL FAME: <br /> <br />(Adopted May 11, 1905) <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: <br /> <br />That, any person who shall rent or lease property within the City limits, either as <br /> <br />owner or agent for for the owner, knowing that the same is to be used as an house of ill <br /> <br />fame,or is to be resorted to for the purpose of prostitution, shall be fined not less than <br /> <br />twenty nor more than one hundred dollars. <br /> <br />This ordinance shall be in force from its passage. <br /> <br />Presented May 17, 1905; Approved May 17, 1905. <br /> <br />Mayor Signature. . <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE PROHITBITING THE KEEPING OF AN HOUES OF ILL FAME: <br /> <br />(Adopted May 11, 1905) <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: <br /> <br />That, Any person who shall keep an house of ill fame, resorted to for the purpose of <br /> <br /> Prostitution or lewdness, shall be fined not les than twenty-five dollars nor more than two hund- <br /> <br />Red dollars, and in a prosecution of this offence the general character of the house may be <br /> <br />Proved.
