AN ORDINANCE CREATING A SECOND HEALTH OFFICER: DEFINING HIS DUTIES &C: (Adopted May 11, 1905). BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, That the City create a second HEALTH OFFICER at two hundred and forty dollars ($240.00) per annum, whose term shall expire in September 1906, whose duties shall be _ as prescribed in Chapter XI of City Ordinances, and a, Visit and attend all pauper cases whether infectious, contagious- medical or surgical that shall be reported to him, or send them to the University Hospital should they be fit subjects. b, To visit all dairies supplying milk to the City, at least once a month, and often if necessary, and report any failure to comply with necessary cleanliness and sanitation to the Board of Health. c, To examine specimens of milk taken by himself from the distributing carts not less than once in two months, and oftener if he deems it necessary, and report same to Health Board when below standard. STANDARD: At least 11% total solids- At least 15% Cream Sp.gr- 10.28 to 13.35. d, He shall inspect all slaughter houses within one mile of the City limits, report neglect or unsanitary condition to Board of Health. E, Any failure to fulfill his duties as prescribed shall be summarily dealth with, And his removal from office enforced if neglect is continuously practiced by him. Presented May 17, 1905; Approved May 17, 1905. Mayor Signature. . AN ORDINANCE CREATING A BOARD OF HEALTH FOR THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: (Adopted May 11, 1905). BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: That in the stead of the present Health Committee an Health Board be created to Consist of four member, viz; the City Physician, two practicing Physicians elected by The Council and one member of the Council appointed by the Mayor. The two physicians elected shall receive a salary of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) Per annum and serve for a term of one and two years respectively. Upon entering that Duties they shall convene and elect a President, who shall provide, call meetings etc, a. The duties shall be those as laid forth in Chapter XII, City Ordinances, and b. To inspect systematically all premises of the City once every month, c. Instructing the Health Officer to make necessary change stc., for the benefits of the health of the City. d. Each member is empowered to abate any nuisance that may come to his notice from time to time. e. To report Health Officers for neglect of duty, incompetence, etc., when it deems ___ f.
