95 <br /> <br />AN ' ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RE-ENACTING SEC. 87 OF THE LICENSE ORDINANCE OF 1907, ENTILTED "STREET <br /> <br />VENDORS OR MERCHANTS": <br /> <br />RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, That section 87 of the License ordinance <br /> <br />of 19O7,entitled "Street venders or merchants", be amended and re-enacted to read as <br /> <br />follows; <br /> <br />SEC. 87. STREET VENDORS OR MERCHANTS. <br /> <br />On every person, whether manufacturer or not selling upon the streets or other <br /> <br />public places, inflated balloons, plaster figures, toys, jewelry and other small <br /> <br />articles, the license tax shall be from $1. to $10. per day in the discretion of the <br /> <br />Commissioner of Revenue and the Mayor, jointly. The mayor shall, if he deem it <br /> <br />necessary,designate the place of sale. <br /> <br />Adopted April 13, 1911. Presented and approved April 15,1911. <br />President Signature. Mayor Signature. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RE-ENACTING SEC. 176 OF THE CITY, ENTILTED SEC. 176 -- <br /> <br />BICYCLES AND AUTOMOBILES: <br /> <br />RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, that section 176 of the City Code entitled <br /> <br />"Bicycles and Automobiles",be amended and re-enacted to read as follows; <br /> <br />SEC.176. --BICYCLES AND AUTOMOBILES <br /> <br />To bicycle or similar mechine shall be used over the sidewalks of the city; and <br /> <br />no automobile, bicycle, or similar machine shall be used over the streets of the city <br /> <br />at a greater rate of speed than fifteen miles an hour under any conditions, nor at <br /> <br />any rate of speed under this maximum Wliich the conditions in the streets would make <br /> <br />unsafe. Every such vehicle shall be provided with a bell, gong, or horn of a usual <br /> <br />tyle which shall be sounded at the street crossings, and whenever necessary to the <br /> <br />safety of any person using the streets, but at no other time; and no such vehicle <br /> <br />shall be used on the streets of the city after nightfall without a heaslight or <br /> <br />lantern of such nature and so placed as to be conspicuously visable at the distance <br /> <br />of a block. <br /> <br />Any violation of any provision of this section, as far as relates to automobiles, <br /> <br />shall be punished by a fine of not less than $10. nor more than $100. and as far as <br /> <br />it relates to othIr machines by a fine of not less $1. nor more than $25.or, in <br /> <br />any case, by imprisonment in the city jail for not mora than 30 days, or both by fine <br /> <br />and imprisonment, as herein. provided. <br /> <br />Adopted bt the Council April 13, 1911 Presented and approved April 15,1911. <br />President Signature Mayor Signature. <br />
