120 <br />AN ORDINANCE Al11TINC AYD ISE -ENACTING SECTION 176 of the City Code: <br />BE IT ORDAIr;ED,BY TNF COU?]CIL OF CNARLOTTESVILLE,That Section 176 of the City Code <br />be and the same is hereby amended and re-enacted to read as follows; <br />SECTION 176. BI CYCLES, AUTO'' OBIUS AND OTt?ER VEKI CLES. <br />No bicycle or similar machine shall be used over the sidewilks' of- the .City$' <br />no automobile, bicycle or similar machine shall be used over the streets at a greater <br />rate of speed than fifteen. miles an hour under any conditions, nor at any rate of <br />speed under this maximum which the conditions in the streets would make unsafe, <br />Every such vehicle shall be provided with a bdll,gong or born of a usual type A] <br />*rich shall be sounded at stmt crossings and *enever necessary to tlne safety of <br />any person using the streets, but at no other time; and no such vehicle sliall be teed <br />on the streets after nightfall wit'hout it scall be provided wit', at least two ligMid <br />la�0ps showing; white lights visible for a reasonable distance in t'e direction torard' <br />which the vehicle is going and one red light attached to the rear of said vehicle <br />visible for a reasonable distance in the rear thereof. <br />Any violation of any provision of this section as far as it relates to automo• <br />miles shall be punishable by a fine of not less t'nan $100 nor more than $100. and n <br />far as it relates to other machines by a fine of not less than one dollar nor more <br />than twenty-five dollars, or in any case by imprisonment in the City ,jail for not <br />more than thirty days,or both by fine and imprisonment as herein provided. <br />ti <br />Tris ordinance shall be in force from its passage. <br />Adopted by the Coun it July 10,1913.
