1 1 <br />99 0 <br />(a) In all buildings every sleeping room shall be provided with a window or windows <br />opening directly upon a street, yard, or court, except that in dwellings a window shall not <br />be required in a sleeping room which is lighted and ventilated by a skylight, or which is <br />connected by an archway or opening containing not less than 50 sq. f :yet in the clear, <br />with a room other than a sleeping room provided with at least two windows of not less than <br />15 square feet area each between stop beads, and opening directly on a street or yard. <br />(b) The windows of every sleeping room shall have an area of not less than <br />12 square feet between stop beads, and the sash shall be arranged to ppen to the extent <br />of one-half their area. The glass area of skylights for ventilating sleeping r.>oms shall <br />be not less than 9 square feet and the skylight shall be provided with movableventilation <br />louvres of sash. <br />(c) In every building, or o'Jher than a detached dwelling and a dwelling occupied <br />by not more than one family, every sleeping room shall be for at least two thirds of its <br />area, not, less than eight (8) feet high from the finished floor to the finished ceiling, <br />and shall be not less than seven (7) feet in width at its narrowest point, and have an <br />area of not less than seventy (70) square feet, except that in hotels the area shall be <br />not less than eighty (80) square feet. <br />(a) No sleeping room shall be placed in any story the ceiling of which is less <br />that four feet (4' ) six inches (6") above the curb or adjacentground level. <br />SEC. 29. Electrical installations. <br />All electrical installations shall be in accordance with the National Electrical <br />Code of the National Board of Underwriters, and no installation of electrical equipment <br />shall be made, except in conformity thereto. <br />Sec. 30. City Lledtrician--appojntment -- term -tip compensation -- bond. <br />The City Manager shall appoint a city Electrician, whose term of office shall be <br />at the pleasure of the City Manager, and he shall receive such compensation as the Council <br />the <br />My, on/recommendation of the City Manager, fix, payable in monthly installments out of <br />the City Treasury. He shall gike bond in such amount as the Cdu6cil may fix. <br />Sec. 31. Duties. <br />(a) The �;ity Electrician shall have general suprevision of all electric lights <br />used for City purposes and it shall be his duty to require any person, firm or corporation <br />furnishing electric lights to the City under contract to comply with the terms and in the <br />event offailure to do so, he shall report such failure to the City Manager, <br />(b) He shall keep the fire and police alarm system in good working order and <br />shall attend all fire alarms, reporting to the person of dfficier in command at the scene <br />Of the fire and at the direction of such officer he shall cut orcause to be removed all <br />'Wires and shall turn off all currents where the circuits interfere with the work of the <br />fire department or are liable to injure life or propery. <br />(c) The City Electrician shall direct, regulate and determine the placing, <br />Operation and maintenance of electric wires and other applicances for light, heat ()r power <br />and shall cause all such wires or applicances to be so placed, constructed guarded, insulated <br />and as not to cause fire or accidents, injuring life or property. <br />(d) The City Electrician shall have special charge in the enforcement of all <br />ordinances relating to electricity and the use thereof in the Jtreets of the City , <br />Parks or other public places and shall report to the City Manager any persons, firms, or <br />004orations violating any of the prov sions of the City Code contained in this chapter <br />or any chapter of the City Code. <br />
