A?T .tDIIJAiJCE PROVIDING FOR THE CON'S'2RUCTION USE AND i.liIN`T'EITAITCE OF id[AR UIS'i S 0_VERHa1VGING <br />CITY ST 41�,,TS. <br />• Any person, firm or corporation desirin}_; to erect a marquise over— <br />hanging any sidewalk, street, avenue or alley shall, before any -�, orl, is done on ,came, <br />ma1,c application in writing, to the City Manager and receive a l;erl,.it for :uch con— <br />struction. <br />All applications must be signed by the property owners, and no 'perrait <br />shall be issued by the City Manager as provided hc.,re in until an ins--oection fee of X1.00, has <br />been paid to the City Collector. <br />Marquises erected under the authority of this ordinance shall conform <br />to the following requirements: <br />All marquises must be constructed entirely of metal :;xce;;t the roof <br />surface, or vovering; and the ornaments. The roof may be composed of wired Mass, not <br />less t;:,in one quarter Inch (4) in thickness inclosing a layer of wire fabric reenforcinent • <br />having a mesh not larger than seven eights inch (7/8) in size, and wire not small than <br />number 24 B & S -auge, vrr:en this wire glass is used it shall be further protected by a <br />wire sitreen approved by the City Manager. All ornaments must be composed entirely <br />of metal or glass, and if':.en glass ornaments are used they shall be of �uf 'icient <br />thickness to prevent easy breakage. <br />All marquises shall be placed not Le,3s than nine feet (9) feet above <br />the sidewal:c, street, avenue or alley and. shall not project nearer than within two feet <br />(2) ft. of the curb line. Adequate provision must be made fans drainage so that no <br />water will be allowed to -drip from marquise on to the sidewalk or street. No marquise <br />shall be anchored, supported or braced to the wooden beams or other framework of a <br />building, but moot be :,ecurely. attrAched to brick wall, or other incumbustable iso,L•ti-xi <br />of the building, supported by a sufficient number of chains, or other supportc att:,.cl-,, d <br />to the buj, d�nG as .4eLgcribed abovep. Posts, piasters or anther supl;orts, placed in the <br />Street or sidewalk will not be permitted. <br />In every case the saftey of design and construction must be approved <br />by the Buildin;� Inppec tor. <br />All marquises must be lighted, only electric lights will be permitted <br />all electric wiring must be in accordance with the latest regulations of the National <br />Hoard of li'ire Underwriters, for electric wiring. There shall be at least one 25 watt <br />light for each 5 Sq. f t. .,urf, .ce covered by the marquise, measurements to be made <br />upon its horizontal -projection over the Street.
