V AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING TIE CONSTRUCTION , <br />0h OF FRANCE APART�NT HOUSES FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF HOUSING MORE THAJT FIVE FAMILIES. <br />Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that it shall be unlaw- <br />ful to erect, alter or remodel any frame building for the purpose of housing more than <br />fine families or 20 persons. This ordinance shall upon passage become a part of the <br />Building Code and the conditions and penalties provided therein shall apply. <br />Adopted by the Council July 2, 1928. <br />Ayes, Brogan and Dorris; Noes, None. <br />r Cler 7' <br />reside <br />r <br />AN ORDINANCE 111POSING T �3 0IT PERSONS AND PROPERTY FOR THE PA E' rT OF INTEREST <br />ON THE CITY DEBT, FOR CREATING A SINKING FUND TI-E:CFOR, FOR THE 63UPPORT OF THE <br />CITY GO BR11IS�NT AND CITY SC"tI00La, AND FOR OTHI2 EXPENSES. <br />I <br />Be it -ordained by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that for the year begin - <br />ping the first day of Februar�r, 1928, and ending the 31st day of January, 1929, and each <br />year thereafter while this ordinance is in force, the taxes on persons and property for lo- <br />cal purposes shall be as follows: <br />GE1TI,1RAL LEVY. <br />1. Lands, Dots and Buildings. <br />On tracts of lend and lots and improvements thereon not exempt from taxation, <br />there shrill be a tax of $1.55 on every "'100.00 of the assessed value thereof, to <br />pay the general operating expenses of the city government and to pay the interest <br />and sinkin7 fund on the cit.v debt other than schools. And there shall be levied <br />an additional t -4x on every $100.00 of the assessed value thereof of X0.17 (seven- <br />teen cents) to pay the interest and sinking; fund on school bonds and X0.80 (eighty <br />cents) for the maintenance and operating of the schools. <br />2. Tan7ible Personal Property. <br />Upon all tangible personal property, as defined in Schedule B of the State <br />Tax Law, not e:remnt from taxation, there shall be a tax oX $1.55 on every ; 100.00 <br />of the assessed value thereof, to pay the general operatinf; expenses of the city <br />government and to pay the interest and sinking fund on the city debt other than <br />schools. And there shall be levied an additional tax on eve-ry .1'100.00 of the as- <br />sessed -.clue thereof of $0.17 (seventeen cents) to pay the interest and sinking <br />fund on school bonds and Q0.80 (eighty cents) for the maintenance and operating of <br />the schools. <br />3. Other Property. <br />Upon any property not included in the foregoing, <br />which is not exempt from local taxation, the tax shall be "1.55 for <br />every one hundred dollars of the assessed value ttlereof, to pay the general <br />operating expenses of the city goverment and to pay the interest and sinking <br />fund on the city debt other than schools. And there shall be levied an additional <br />tax on evAry $100.00 of the assessed value thereof of «0.17 seventeen cents) to <br />pay the interest and sinking fund on school bonds and 9"'0.80 eighty cents) for the <br />Maintenance and operatinj of the schools. <br />Adort.ed by the Council August 6, 1928, <br />Ayes, Brown and Morris; Noes. None. <br />Cler __�/ resident <br />459 <br />PARKING OF VEHICLES ON THE STREET S OFTHE CITY <br />Be it ordained by the Council of the Citv of Charlottesville that an ordinance entitled <� <br />"Parking vehicles on the Streets of the Citv" adopted July 19th, 1926 be amended and reenacted <br />80 &s to read as followst <br />1. Except as authorized in this ordinance no vehicle shall be parked except parallel <br />with and close to the right hand curb and in no instance shall such vehicles be <br />parked less than four feet apart, nor with the rear wheels further than six inches <br />from the curb. <br />2. No vehicle shall be <br />parked <br />on Main Street from Seventh Street East to Preston Ave., <br />T <br />between 7 A. M. and <br />6 P. M. <br />for a period of more than thirty minutes. <br />No vehicle shall be <br />parked <br />between Market Street and Water Street on Second Street <br />� <br />Went; First Street; <br />Second <br />Street East; Third Street East; Fourth Street East and <br />Fifth Street East between 7 <br />A. M. and 7 P. M. for a period of more than two hours <br />except on Sunday. <br />3. No vehicle sh~.11 be <br />parked <br />on any of the streets of the City between twelve o'clock <br />midnight and ,sire A. <br />M. without a parking light on the front and rear of such vehicle. <br />4. Parking (with the vehicle heading <br />either way) is permitted only on the designated <br />
