DEPOSIT BY GAS CONSUMERS - WHEN GAS BILLS ARE PAYABLE - SERVICE <br /> <br />CHARGE FOR GAS CONNECTION. <br /> <br />(a) DEPOSIT: Any person, firm or corporation which shall hereafter <br /> <br />begin the use of City gas, shall before connection is made and meter placed <br /> <br />make a deposit according to the following schedule: <br /> <br />A consumer operating a hotel, restaurant, eating house, hot dog <br /> <br />stand or similar business, catering to transients, $25.00; a consumer operat- <br /> <br />ing a boarding house accommodating more than ten boarders, $10.00, all other <br /> <br />consumers, $5.00. <br /> <br />The deposit, or any part thereof, may at the option of the City, <br /> <br />be applied on any obligation the consumer may owe the City in connection with <br /> <br />City gas. Until the account of such consumer with the City shall be closed <br /> <br />out, said deposit shall be kept unimpaired by the consumer and when the account <br /> <br />is closed out, the balance, if any, shall be returned to the consumer or his <br /> <br />personal representative, or assigns. <br /> <br />(b) WHEN GAS IS CUT OFF: The gas furnished to any consumer shall be <br /> <br />cut off whenever any charge therefor remains unpaid beyond the last day allowed <br /> <br />for payment and when any consumer shall fail, after ten days' notice, to make <br /> <br />good any impairment of the deposit hereinbefore provided for. <br /> <br />(c) CONNECTING CHARGE: For turning gas on again after it has been cut <br /> <br />off for non-payment, there shall be a charge of $1.00 payable in advance. <br /> <br />(d) GAS BILLS PAYABLE: All gas bills for the preceding month are due <br /> <br />and payable on or before the tenth day after a statement is rendered, and where <br /> <br />such bills are not paid before the said tenth day the service shall be discontinued. <br /> <br />This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from the date of its passage, <br /> <br />and all ordinance and parts of ordinances in conflict therewith are hereby repealed. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council March 15, 1937. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mr. Gleason, Dr. Haden, Mr. Huff, <br /> <br />Mr. Jessup, and Mr. Twyman. <br /> <br />Noes: None. <br />Clerk Signature <br />President Signature <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 358 OF THE CITY CODE <br /> <br />OF 1932 ENTITLED "GAS CONNECTIONS TO BE MADE BY CITY". <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Section 358 <br /> <br />of the City Code of 1932 be and the same is hereby amended and reenacted so as to <br /> <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />SEC. 358 A. GAS CONNECTIONS TO BE MADE BY CITY. <br /> <br />All gas connections from gas mains to the building, including the setting <br /> <br />of all meters and repairs in the street, shall be done by the City at the expense <br /> <br />of the same, except as hereinafter mentioned. The property owner shall pay <br /> <br />the actual costs of the pipe and its installation over and above 100 lineal feet <br /> <br />from the property line for any one consumer, and for each additional consumer a <br /> <br />further distance of 100 feet may be allowed.
