Each new consumer shall <br />pay a connection charge of $100.00 in advance and shall execute such water <br />contract as may be required by the City Manager. <br />All water accounts shall be due and payable monthly on or before ten <br />days after the meter has been read. The City Collector shall have the right <br />to disconnect and cease furnishing water to any consumer who is delinquent in <br />the payment of his or her account after the tenth day subsequent to the reading <br />of the meter. <br />If any water meter shall fail to register the charge shall be the average <br />reading for the three preceding months. <br />This section shall not apply to special contracts for the consumption of <br />water which have been authorized by the Council. <br />This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from the date of its passage, <br />and all ordinances, or parts of ordinance in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed. <br />Adopted by the Council September 2, 1941. <br />Ayes: Mr. Gleason, Dr. Haden, °ar. Huff, <br />Mr. Nash, and Mr. Pe"In. <br />Noes: None1 n <br />en <br />AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED 'tAN ORDINANCE ADDING A NEW SECTION TO THE CITY <br />CODE OF 1932, NUMBERED 339 (a) A14D ENTITLED tRESTRICTING THE USE OF CITY WATERt". <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that a new section <br />be added to the City Code of 1932 numbered 339(a) and entitled "Restricting the Use <br />' <br />of City Water", which shall read as follows: <br />SEC. 339 (A) Restricting the Use of City Water. <br />Due to the emergency existing by reason of shortage of water resulting <br />from the unusual drought, and in order to conserve water for necessary purposes, <br />it shall be unlawful to use any city water for the purpose of washing automobiles <br />or other vehicles, or for watering lawns, trees, shrubs, gardens, sidewalks or <br />, <br />streets. It shall also be unlawful wilfully to waste city water. <br />Any violation of this ordinance siiali be punished by a fine of not less than <br />$5.00 and not more than $25.00, and the City Manager shall have the right to dis- <br />continue supplying water to any person guilty of violation of this ordinance <br />whether such violation occur within the limits of the City of Charlottesville or <br />outside said City Limits. <br />This ordinance shall be in force from its passage and shall remain in force <br />until such time as the Council may declare teat the emergency shall have ceased to <br />exist. <br />tidopted by the Council October 6, 1941. <br />Ayes: Mr.Gleason, lir.
