End of pipe to be not more <br />than six inches from the bottom of basin. <br />(1) Small cast iron sand traps may be used in private <br />garages. <br />(m) Traps to catch basins located on the inside of any <br />building must be vented. <br />(n) Plumbing Clean -outs: Clean -outs shall be inserted <br />in main drains within fifteen feet after entering building, <br />except in, cases where sewer runs through unexcavated <br />portion of foundation not exceeding forty feet; then clean- <br />out shall be installed as near as possible on the inner side <br />of cellar wall. <br />(o) Clean -outs are also to be placed in main and <br />branch drains not less than forty feet apart, and at the <br />base of every stack; each of said clean -outs to be brought <br />to the level of the floor and in all cases to be made ac- <br />cessable. <br />(p) Clean -outs for cast iron soil pipe shall have a heavy <br />tapered brass plug not less than 1/8 inch thick at any point, <br />or udylited cast iron and lead ground tapered plug. Building Sewers: <br />(a The building sewer beginning five feet outside of <br />the inner face of the building wall shall be of cast iron <br />or vitrified clay pipe or such fibre pipe as shall be approved <br />by the Plumbers' Examining Board. <br />(b) Concrete pipe may be used for building sewers <br />only in suitable location approved by the Plumbing In- <br />spector. <br />(c) No MAin building sewer of vitrified clay or con- <br />crete shall if .if ess than four inches in diameter. <br />(d) No- other than cast iron pipe will be permitted <br />less than one foot below grade surface. <br />(e) Building sewers must be laid at a sufficient depth <br />wherever possible so as to drain basement or cellars. <br />(f) All joints in vitrified clay or concrete pipe, or <br />between vitrified clay or concrete pipe and metal pipe must <br />be made by caulking ring of oakum in hub and pouring hub <br />with approved asphalt pipe joint compound or caulking <br />Ying of hemp saturated in Portland cement grout in hub <br />._and filling hub with a cement mortar composed- of me <br />`part Portland cement and three parts clean, sha <br />�'p sa <br />When the cement joint is used each joint must be q'arefu8y <br />wiped out from the inside of the pipe. <br />Sec. 25.
