The <br />territory sought to be annexed has no public water supply of its <br />own and much of it obtains water from the City at substantially <br />higher rates than imposed upon comparable consumers in the City. <br />Sanitary Sewage Disposal: The City of Charlottesville main- <br />tains and operates extensive systems for the disposal of sanitary <br />sewage. These systems are available to every part of the City re- <br />quiring sanitary sewage disposal service, and in addition, serve <br />major elements of the metropolitan districts surrounding the City. <br />Currently planned expansions of capacity of the treatment plants <br />owned and operated by the City will enable it to provide sewerage <br />for Charlottesville and the area of the Charlottesville district <br />of Albemarle County which the City desires to annex. Most of the <br />territory sought to be annexed has no public sewer system of its <br />own. It is important to extend these services into all the areas <br />proposed for annexation. <br />Garbage and Trash Collection: Charlottesville operates and <br />maintains coordinated and integrated facilities for the collection <br />and disposal of garbage and trash throughout the City consisting <br />of adequate equipment and personnel for protecting the health of <br />the community. Garbage and trash are collected at frequent and <br />closely spaced intervals in accordance with planned work schedules <br />from all private homes, no separate charge being made for such <br />service but the operation being financed from the General Fund of <br />the City. Hotels, public places, etc. also use the facilities. <br />Charlottesville would extend the same service now rendered to its <br />- 10 - <br />
