June 16, 1947 <br />To the Members of the City Council <br />Charlottesville, Virginia <br />Gentlemen: <br />We have a request by the Youell Fabricating Company <br />Water & Sewer for water and sewer lines on Gentry Lane Extended. This <br />Lines - Gentry subdivision was approved by the Planning Board and, inasmuch <br />Lane as the above named company is willing to pay one-half of the <br />cost of installing these lines, I recommend that this request <br />be granted. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Seth Burnley (signed) <br />SB:gbh City Manager <br />Mr. Tebell advised that he had conferred with Miss Nan Crow of the Recreation <br />Selling Soft- Department and found that it was her intention to sell soft drinks, etc. at the <br />Drinks, Etc. - <br />Parks showing of the movies in the parks. In view of the foregoing he recommended that <br />the request of Mr. Leroy Snow dated May 23, 1947 be denied. On motion the fore- <br />going recommendation was unanimously adopted. <br />On motion the meeting adjourned. <br />ClerkPresident <br />(/ <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER, JULY 7, 1947 <br />The Council met in regular session on this date with the following members <br />0 <br />11 <br />0 <br />present: Mr. Adams, Mr. Gleason, and Mr. Watson. <br />Minutes of the Meeting of June 16, 1947 were read and approved. <br />A public hearing on the motion of the Council to rezone lots 34,35, and <br />35(a) on University Circle from A-1 Residence to A Residence District, was held <br />on this date. The Board of Zoning Appeals submitted a report recommending that <br />Zoning Change- <br />the change be made. No one appeared for or against the proposed change. An <br />University <br />Circle <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF CHAPTER 33 OF THE <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE OF 1945 ENTITLED "ZONING DISTRICTSf1, was offered by <br />Mr. Watson, seconded by Mr. Gleason, and upon the rules being suspended as to <br />the second reading by unanimous vote, was adopted by the following recorded <br />vote: Ayes: Mr. Adarrns, Mr. Gleason, and Air. Watson. Noes: None. (Full text <br />of this ordinance will be found recorded in Ordinance Book 2, page 19). <br />Mr. 11Tilliam Apps and others addressed the Council and urged that the <br />Woodland <br />improvements be made to Woodland Drive in accordance with the report adopted <br />Drive <br />by the Council on April 7, 1947. The City Manager advised that before these <br />improvements could be made it was necessary to secure some additional right-of- <br />way. On motion by Mr. Watson, seconded by Mr. Gleason, the City Manager was <br />authorized to offer Gerry F. Guiff $75.00 for a triangular parcel of land on <br />Woodland Drive for street purposes, and in the event that this offer is refused <br />the City Attorney was instructed to enter condemnation proceedings. <br />Filling <br />On motion the matter of granting a permit to operate a filling station on <br />Station - <br />Avon St. <br />Avon Street to Marks Store was carried over for further consideration. <br />On motion by Mr. Gleason, seconded by Thr. Watson, two county water connee- <br />County Water <br />Connections <br />tions were granted to Haynes L. Settle in Alaury Addition. <br />County Water, <br />On motion by Mr. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Watson, W. F.
