Pace <br />W <br />$112.50 <br />$75.00 <br />$37.50 <br />On motion a <br />County <br />light at the <br />Water <br />Graves <br />Connections <br />Sidewalks <br />Street <br />Light <br />Petition <br />Fire <br />Hydrant <br />"Westwood" <br />and <br />Mason <br />Lane <br />C7 <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER, AUGUST lg, 19,47 <br />The Council met in regular session on this date with the following members <br />present: Mr. Adams, Mr. Gleason, Mr. Nash, Mr. Tebell, and Mr. Watson. <br />Minutes of the meeting of August 4, 19/+.7 were read and approved. <br />Mr. Charles Hulvey addressed the Council and stated that an effort was being <br />made to organize an infantry company of the U. S. Marine Corps. Reserve in this city, <br />and inquired if it would be possible to rent the basement floor of the rear Midway <br />School building and one additional classroom, as an armory, for a term of approxi- <br />mately one year. The City Manager advised the Council that he had been verbally <br />informed that the Child Guidance Clinic did not intend to use the building as was <br />granted to them at the last regular council meeting. A motion by Mr. Gleason, <br />seconded by Mr. Nash, that in the event the Child Guidance Clinic does not use the <br />rear Midway School building that the basement of this building and one additional <br />classroom be rented in accordance with the foregoing request to the U. S. Marine <br />Corps Reserve for a term of one yeGr, at a monthly rental of $60.00, with the proviso <br />that the expense of all utilities, heat, etc., and cost of all repairs or alterations <br />to said building are to be paid for by the lessee, was unanimously adopted. <br />On motion by Mr. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Watson, the following county water <br />applications were granted: <br />B. Ashby, Jr. Maury Hills <br />Mrs. Pauline F. Vest Gentry Addition. <br />On motion by Mr. Tebell, seconded by Mr. Gleason, the following sidewalk <br />petitions were unanimously approved for construction: <br />Name Location <br />Estimated Property Owners? Pace <br />Highland Avenue <br />$112.50 <br />$75.00 <br />$37.50 <br />On motion a <br />petition for a street <br />light at the <br />South end of Little <br />Graves <br />Street was referred to the ':Rayor and City Manager for disposition. <br />On motion a petition for a fire hydrant on Cynthianna Avenue and Forrest Street, <br />was referred to the City Manager for investigation and report. <br />On motion a petition requesting that the City accept dedication of streets in <br />"VlestwoodtT just off Rugby Avenue, and a petition requesting that the City accept <br />dedication of and extend Mason Lane, was referred to Mr. Nash and the City Manager <br />for investigation and report. <br />An ordinance entitled TTAN ORDINkNCE AME11DING THE LICENSE TAX ORDINANCE BY ADDING <br />Ordinance- THERETO A NEW SECTION NUMBERED AND ENTITLED 1771al Laundrettes?", was offered by Mr. <br />Laundrettes <br />Watson, seconded by Mr. Gleason, read, and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br />An ordinance entitled TtAN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION I OF CHAPTER <br />Ordinance- 16 OF THF CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE OF 1945 WITH REGARD TO THE COMPOSITION OF THE <br />Library <br />Board LIBRARY BOARD?", was offered by $r. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Watson, read, and upon <br />the rules being suspended as to the second reading by unanimous vote, was adopted <br />by the following recorded vote. Ayes: i1.1r. Adams, Mr. Gleason, 1,1r. Nash, Mr. Tebell, <br />and Mr. Watson. Noes: None. (Full text of this ordinance will be found recorded in <br />Ordinance Book 3-, page 20) . <br />A communication from the Southern Railway Company in regard to an overhead <br />Overhead bridge at Shamrock Road was again presented. On motion the City Manager was in - <br />Bridge - <br />Shamrock strutted to advise the Southern Railway Company that the City was not interested in <br />Road <br />
