U 0 Q Diaper Laundry Service Bookmobile bilk Ordinance A communication frornri :Zr. Henry Loewenthal, Jr., requesting that he be permitted to operate a diaper service laundry in this city without the payment of the "non-resident" laundry license tax, was presiented. The Council was advised that a local firm plans to render a such service in the very near future. On motion by Air. Gleason, seconded by sir. Nash, the foregiong request was un- animously refused. On motion by Mr. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Nash, the following report was unanimously adopted: April 101 1947 To the Members of the City Council Charlottesville, Virginia Gentlemen: Your committee has discussed the question of the Library Budget with the Library Board and a representative of the State Library Board. It is our recommendation that every encouragement possible be given the County people to make as much use of the Library as possible, and that the Library may be used as a depository for the books for the Bookmobile, and the building be used as headquarters for the personnel. However, it is our opinion that this Bookmobile should be operated by the County rather than the City Library Board, as there would be considerable responsibility and liability which we do not think the City should assume. Inasmuch as the budgets have already been made for both City and County it is recommended, that the amount as set up in the budget which included an additional $1900.00 for this year be left unchanged and the Library Board be asked to make a more equitable arrangement with the County next year.
