C, <br />0 <br />Fire Hazard - <br />City Yard <br />Request to use <br />public address <br />system refused <br />County Water <br />Connection <br />County Sewer <br />Connection <br />Airport <br />Appropriation <br />re: Parks <br />Appropriation - <br />Rights -of -way <br />Water Line <br />Lots - <br />Buckingham <br />Subdivision <br />Traf f is <br />Survey <br />Bleachers & <br />Backstop for <br />Washington <br />Park <br />resolution adopted at the last regular meeting authorizing the Teen -Age Club <br />to use the rear Midway School Building for their club room, be rescinded in <br />view of the foregoing report, was unanimously adopted. <br />On motion by Mr. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Nash, the Fire Chief and the City <br />Manager were instructed to determine whether or not any fire hazard exists in the <br />City Yard. <br />A communication from Rev. Ira T. Dunn, of the Pilgrim Holiness Church, re- <br />questing permission to use a public address system in the City for religious <br />services, was unanimously refused. <br />On motion by Mr. Watson, seconded by Mr. Gleason, a county water connection <br />was granted to Mr. Edmond Berkeley. <br />On motion by Mr. Watson, seconded by Mr. Gleason, a county sewer connection <br />was granted to Virginia Electric & Power Company, providing the usual agreement <br />is properly executed. <br />A report from fir. 0. R. Randolph, C. E., stating that he had made a survey <br />of the Milton Airport and that in his opinion the Milton Airport could not be <br />developed for use as a commercial airport. On motion by Mr. Watson, seconded by <br />Mr. M ash, the foregoing communication was ordered filed with the minutes of this <br />meeting. <br />A report from the '-%ommittee on Parks recommending that $1100.00 be appropriated <br />for certain improvements in Washington Park, and that $2J.00.00 be appropriated for <br />grading the new playground on Fifth Street, S. W. was presented. The Committee <br />also recommended that the new white athletic field at Brooks' Pasture be cleared <br />of all briars and underbrush, but that no grading be done at this time. On motion <br />by Mr. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Watson, the following resolution was offered and <br />carried over to the next meeting for considerationt <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that <br />$3500.00, or as much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is <br />hereby appropriated in accordance with the foregoing report. <br />On motion by Mr. Gleason, seconded by Mr. N ash, the following resolution was <br />offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that <br />$7500.00, or as much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is <br />hereby appropriated for rights-of-way for water line from Reservoir to <br />Filter Plant. <br />A motion by Mr. Gleason, seconded by rJlr. Nash, that Mr. Watson and the City <br />Manager be authorized to represent the City in the sale of lots in the Buckingham <br />Subdivision and to use their best judgment in protecting the City's interest in the <br />three lots over which the City has a water line right-of-way., was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />The resolution appropriating 4.500.00 for a traffic survey which was offered <br />at the last regular meeting, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: <br />Mr. Adams, Mr. Gleason, Mr. Nash, and Mr. Watson. Noes: None. <br />The resolution appropriating $2000.00 for bleachers and backstop at Washington <br />Park, which was offered at the last regular meeting, was adopted by the following <br />recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Adams, Mr. Gleason, Mr. 'Nash, and Mr. Watson.
