• The following report was unanimously adopted: <br />January 6, 1947 <br />To the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia <br />Gentlemen: <br />the undersigned Committee appointea to consider the re- <br />co:ainendation of the Mayor as to the creation of standing <br />committees on the various city functions respectfully report <br />that they have considered this suggestion and are of the opinion <br />that it should be tried. <br />Under the Charter of true City these standing committees <br />could have only advisory functions, but it is believea that each <br />councilman may by familiarizing himself with one bran&) of the <br />City's work be prepared to render valuable assistance in an <br />advisory capacity to the aaministrative officers and to other <br />councilmen in matters to which he has given his particular <br />attention. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />• <br />J. Adams, 1r. Gleason, 111r. Nash, �NIr. Tebell, and Mr. Watson. <br />Minutes of the Meeting of January 6, i9,,+7 were read and approved. <br />Sewer- A petition for a server lime to serve the subdivision known as Carrolton Terrace <br />Carrolton_ <br />Terrace was presented. Atta.chea to the petition were checks and money in amount of X1065.00 <br />representing the petitioners' proportionate part of the cost. The City Manager re- <br />commended that the petition be granted and on motion by Mr. Tebeil, seconaea by lvlr. <br />Nash, it was so oraerea. <br />On motion by Ar. Gieason, seconded by Mr. livatson, the foilotrving county water <br />County Water applications were granted: <br />Connections <br />Haynes L. Settle Westerly Avenue <br />Haynes L. Settle Westerly Avenue <br />Haybes L. bett.e Westerly Avenue <br />Haynes L. Settle uwesterly Avenue. <br />On motion by 1vir. -V�atson, seconded by Mr. Nash, an application for a county water <br />connection near Ivy of Yr. E. A. Wilford was unanimously refused since this connec- <br />tion would be on a raw water line. <br />
