• The following report was unanimously adopted: January 6, 1947 To the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia Gentlemen: the undersigned Committee appointea to consider the re- co:ainendation of the Mayor as to the creation of standing committees on the various city functions respectfully report that they have considered this suggestion and are of the opinion that it should be tried. Under the Charter of true City these standing committees could have only advisory functions, but it is believea that each councilman may by familiarizing himself with one bran&) of the City's work be prepared to render valuable assistance in an advisory capacity to the aaministrative officers and to other councilmen in matters to which he has given his particular attention. Gleason, 111r. Nash, �NIr. Tebell, and Mr. Watson. Minutes of the Meeting of January 6, i9,,+7 were read and approved. Sewer- A petition for a server lime to serve the subdivision known as Carrolton Terrace Carrolton_ Terrace was presented. Atta.chea to the petition were checks and money in amount of X1065.00 representing the petitioners' proportionate part of the cost. The City Manager re- commended that the petition be granted and on motion by Mr. Tebeil, seconaea by lvlr. Nash, it was so oraerea. On motion by Ar. Gieason, seconded by Mr. livatson, the foilotrving county water County Water applications were granted: Connections Haynes L. Settle Westerly Avenue Haynes L. Settle Westerly Avenue Haybes L. bett.e Westerly Avenue Haynes L. Settle uwesterly Avenue. On motion by 1vir. -V�atson, seconded by Mr. Nash, an application for a county water connection near Ivy of Yr. E. A. Wilford was unanimously refused since this connec- tion would be on a raw water line.
