• <br />On motion by Mr. Tebell, seconded by Mr. dash, the following application for <br />curb and gutter was unanimously approved: <br />Estimated Property Owners Cityts <br />Name Location Cost Proportion Portion <br />Curb & <br />Gutter <br />Rebecca Sprouse 101.8 Avon Street $158.50 4.84.67 4:73.83 <br />Report re: <br />On motion the Council went into Executive Session by the following recorded <br />• <br />right-of-way <br />vote. Ayes: Mr. Adams, Mr. Gleason, Mr. Nash, Mr. Tebell and Mr. Watson. Noes: None <br />street near <br />A committee from the School Board addressed the Council in regard to a Joint <br />Kent Terrace <br />City -County Colored High School. On motion by Mr. Nash, seconded by Mr. Gleason, the <br />Joint City - <br />be sufficient to complete the purchase of this needed right-of-way. <br />County <br />following resolution was unanimously adopted: <br />� <br />Colored <br />High School <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that <br />the plan for the joint ownership and operation of a high school for negro <br />I <br />pupils proposed by the School Board of the City of Charlottesville and the <br />County of Albemarle be and the same is hereby approved, and it is re- <br />commended that the said Board proceed to acquire a suitable site for the <br />Appropriation- <br />establishment of such joint high school. <br />Street - Kent <br />Q <br />Terrace <br />On motion by Mr. Nash, seconded by Mr. Gleason, the following resolution was <br />Q <br />offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that <br />Appropriation $10,000.00 or as much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is <br />for site for <br />high school hereby appropriated for the payment by the School board of the City of <br />Charlottesville of one-half of the cost of acquisition of a site of <br />approximately twelve (12) acres as defined in the resolution of the <br />School Board for a proposed high school for negro pupils to be estab- <br />lished and operated jointly with the County of Albemarle. <br />The following report was unanimously adopted: <br />I <br />'\I <br />January 18, 1947 <br />To the Members of the City Council <br />Charlottesville, Virginia <br />Gentlemen: <br />Your' committee wishes to report that it has beers able to secure <br />Report re: <br />a portion of the right-of-way for a street to replace Binglerts <br />• <br />right-of-way <br />Crossing, from Frys Spring Road to East side of Southern Railway <br />street near <br />tracks near Kent Terrace; and has option on the majority of the balance. <br />Kent Terrace <br />We. therefore, request an appropriation of $6600.00 which we feel will <br />be sufficient to complete the purchase of this needed right-of-way. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />J.
