Mr. Lynch expressed concern about the lack of a real
environment assessment of the property and inadequate public comment. Mr. Lynch said
the City will spent another $35,000 for an assessment that should have been done a year
ago plus $185,000 to clean the site up, while keeping the most contaminated part. Mr.
Lynch said that completely eliminating the environmental damage could cost $1 million.
Mr. Lynch said he would like more information on how this contamination happened.

Mr. Toscano said he does not know where the $1 million figure came t~om, but
noted that the site will not only be remediated, the slopes will be smoothed.

Mr. Caravati said the public process on this project has probably been the most
extensive he has seen, and the only thing he thinks could have changed is the final
decision.

The ordinance was amended as suggested by Mr. Gouldman by the following
vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Ms. Richards, Mr. Toscano.
